Acting & Career Coaching

"Chelsea is an excellent person to work with and to learn from...she is an extraordinary actor, director and instructor, and I loved working with her. "-ZacL
"Reach for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars."
For years that quote stared back at it me from my bulletin board, from a teacher's encouragement card. I wrestled with what I didn't like about it until I found out why and here's my edit:
"Reach for the moon (a life filled with your passion), and discover your path to your own set of stars (an abundant life)."
I'm here to help you find your own voice and path to a fulfilling career, side hustle, or creative outlet as an actor/singer.

Acting is real behavior in imaginary circumstances. My passion is helping artists bring their authentic voice to every role. Theater is a wild, unpredictable journey — and if you’re looking for guidance along the way, I’m here to help you carve your own path with clarity, courage, and creativity.

What I offer:
  • In-person lessons in whatever city I'm currently working in as an actor
  • Virtual lessons
  • Acting the Song
  • Singing for the musical theater stage

I've helped dozens of students get into colleges of their choice, adults have better presentations at work, and actor/singers get cast in their first and fiftieth shows. Above all, I help you find real behavior in the imaginary world. As an actor, we don't push, we don't show, we really believe, and therefore really behave, and my eye is razor sharp to authenticity while my tone as an educator for over a decade with all ages, is one of warmth and openness. I lead with encouragement and positivity, and seek to develop your own muscle for editing your truthfulness as a performer.

"You brought out performances in these actors, I've never seen." -Artistic Director, Oahu

Welcome to My Private Acting Studio

As an acting coach, I opened my private studio to create a welcoming space for individuals who share a genuine passion for the art of acting. My goal is to help you enrich your life with creativity, hone your craft, and develop the skills necessary for success in the professional world. There's something truly transformative about stepping into the imaginary realm of storytelling, and I find immense joy in witnessing the freedom and discovery that flourishes when my students fully embrace their characters.

In my coaching, I draw upon the techniques of Meisner, Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, and Michael Chekhov, tailoring our sessions to foster both artistic exploration and practical skills. Whether you're seeking audition coaching—including support with resumes, headshots, etiquette, and the mental agility needed to thrive—I am here to guide you.

Are you a professional actor looking to refresh your repertoire or add new monologues? Dubbed an "actor's director," I take pride in collaborating with performers to unearth their unique voices and vulnerabilities. Together, we'll breathe new life into existing pieces and discover the perfect selections from my extensive collection of monologues and songs.

If you're at the beginning of your acting journey—whether you're a new professional or exploring a second career in theater—I have a proven track record of helping individuals from diverse backgrounds—including mothers, retirees, and seasoned performers—take their first steps onto regional stages. I will equip you with essential skills, business knowledge, and the tools you need to be seen and considered for roles that speak to you.

Do you want to build your confidence and captivate your audience with engaging storytelling? My experience includes teaching Acting and Storytelling for renowned corporations such as Microsoft and Edelman, as well as delivering keynote speeches at national and international conferences, including the CLUTE Institute, where I discussed putting the "present" back in presentations.

For aspiring college students, I offer comprehensive mentorship throughout the application process. Having successfully navigated my own journey to secure a BFA from Elon University, I have since guided numerous young artists in their college searches, helping them get into their dream schools.

If you have a specific vision or idea that you're passionate about, I invite you to reach out. As a lifelong learner, I’m eager to embark on this journey with you, collaborating to build a curriculum that aligns with your artistic aspirations.
Let’s unlock your potential together!

Got Questions? I got Answers!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take the time to get to know each student's interests and adapt my teaching to meet their specific needs. I am passionate about helping students explore authentic behavior within the imaginary world of theater. After moving to Seattle, I built my career by working at large and mid-sized theaters in the area, joining the actors' union, and supporting myself as both an artist and educator. My goal is to help others gain access to opportunities in the industry and learn how to make a lasting impression while fully expressing themselves and their characters.

What education and training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a BFA in Music Theater with a concentration in Acting and Directing. Additionally, I  have taught at colleges including University of Washington, and am a graduate of the Washington State Teaching Artist Training Lab and the Seattle Children's Theater Apprenticeship Program. With over a decade of experience as a professional actor and teaching artist, I have a comprehensive background in both performance and education.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details.
Let's discuss what works for you. My rates range between $50-120. I can do group lessons for the same price, if you want to bring a friend. I have also provided classes at lower rates on occasion or on an as needed basis.

How did you get started teaching?
I realized I loved teaching acting when I became the go-to teaching assistant for core curriculum courses in my BFA program. When my acting professor got sick, Taylor Trench and I took over for a semester and I felt an alignment teaching Meisner and knew it was in my future. I got started with teaching artistry through Missoula Children's Theater, Washington State Teaching Artist Training Lab and the Seattle Children's Theater Apprenticeship Program, taught at Village Theater Everett's Institute Acting Program for many years, and took over a dramatic arts department for a research-based foundation, where I also studied and applied the research on learning in the classroom as I built programs for student enrichment in the arts.  I have continued to teach regularly for various theater companies, schools, and private lessons for the past decade plus, alongside my performance commitments.

Student Reviews:

Tyler Todd Kimmel
When working with Chelsea, one will notice that when she is talking to you it’s like there is no one else in the room- not in an intimidating way, but in a completely giving way. She is continually giving of herself as an instrument of making art- whether acting or directing, she is present, focussed, vulnerable, and selfless with her time and emotional investment for not only the project at hand, but for the relationships she makes during the project. Chelsea is an incredible listener. As an actor, director, and teacher she respects the work and viewpoints of fellow artists so that it makes what we do a truly collaborative experience. She has an impressive resume and, as a multifaceted artist she is knowledgable and credible and therefore able to communicate affectively with anyone. She is empowering, efficient, so very intelligent, talented, and exceptionally kind (a rare combination of qualities in my opinion). I would share the stage with her or sit behind the production table with her anytime.

Erin Hyatt
Chelsea is personable and present with her students & actors; she is a top notch instructor. Always patient, always confident and friendly - but never misuses her authority, or puts her group’s mental or physical wellbeing at risk. She was a mentor of mine throughout high school, and completely changed my life for the better. Chelsea is a brilliant hire. She will do good things wherever she goes.

Matthew Ircink
Chelsea is one of the kindest and most gracious acting instructors I've had the pleasure of working with. She is truly passionate about her craft and brings that passion and energy to every session. Filled with knowledge and incredibly flexible, Chelsea can create and revise lesson plans to better fit the needs of the actors.
