Hi! I'm Chelsea LeValley. I hope to meet you and work with you soon! Please schedule a free, get to know you initial introductory call for us to meet so I can hear your goals, and you can get more information from me! Please click the book now button to schedule our call! I've been performing since I was 5, hold a BFA in Music Theater with a concentration in directing, and have spent the past decade + working mostly nonstop as an actor, predominately in regional markets. Not until the pandemic, when theater was shut down, had I worked in an industry outside of theater arts and I started my career with $0 in my back account and no financial help. I've now moved temporarily to Hawaii to live a dream of mine here and am opening up my private studio to take on some more students! I am confident that you'll find you are comfortable working with me and will gain skills you didn't know you were missing. In any case, I want to help you navigate the business and develop the skillsets necessary to succeed at whatever your goals may be in acting and performance. |
Why did I open a private studio? I truly delight in opening the door wide for others who love the art and want to know how to get more of it in their lives or build the skills necessary to succeed as a professional actor. I love seeing the freedom and discovery that comes through really believing and really behaving within the confines of the imaginary world. I use Meisner, Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, and Michael Chekhov techniques in my work with students. I also give practical skills through audition coaching including resumes, headshots, audition etiquette and mental and emotional agility and resilience.
Professional actor wanting audition coaching and support for expanding your book, adding and freshening up monologues? As an "actor's director," as I've been dubbed, I love working with my colleagues and helping them find their unique voice and vulnerability in their work, bringing old pieces back to a new life, and finding that perfect new piece out of my database of collected monologues and songs.
Early Career professional or second career professional desiring to break into theater and build your acting career? I've helped moms, retirees, hobbyists, and professional track performers, make their debuts on stages in their regional markets. I will give you the professional skills, business acumen, and necessary tools of the trade to be truly considered for that role and get you on stage!
Interested in building confidence? Nailing your presentations with storytelling aspects that keep your audience engaged? I've taught Acting and Storytelling for Corporations including Microsoft and Edleman as well as at national and international conferences including CLUTE Institute, where I also delivered The Keynote on putting PRESENT back in our presentations, HEIC, IERG, and others.
Applying for colleges and want a mentor to walk you through the process from start to finish? After applying to ten performing arts colleges and thinking I tricked them when I got into most of them (and so many more than my colleagues) I hold a BFA from Elon University and have several young artists in their college search, helping them land dream schools.
Some new reason I don't yet know about? Contact me and let me know! I'm in education because I'm a life long learner. I'd love to learn from you as we work together and build a curriculum that suits your desired interest.

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know what my students interests are and then adapt to their needs. I'm passionate about my students and real behavior within the imaginary world. I moved to Seattle as a transplant and was able to make my way in the industry here so that I have now worked at every large and midsize theater in town, joined the actors union, and still support my life as an artist and educator. I'd love to help others get in the door and learn how to make a lasting impression while living their fullest and freest expression of themselves and as their character.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BFA Music Theater concentration in Acting/Directing
TAT- Washington State Teaching Artist Training Lab Graduate
Seattle Children's Theater Apprenticeship Program Graduate
I've been working as a professional actor and teaching artist for over a decade, based out of the Seattle area.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard rate is $65/hr but I'm offering private and small group lessons for $50/hr right now as a welcome back from the closures gift. Also, I have done classes for less on certain occasions, and will be happy to see if we can find something that can work for us both.
How did you get started teaching?
I started as a T.A. for all my core curriculum in my BFA program- Acting and Performance of Music Theater. Then I taught and toured with Missoula Children's Theater and trained other teachers. Next, I graduated with certificates through Washington state teaching artist training lab and Seattle Children's Theater's Apprenticeship Program. I teach regularly for theater companies, schools, and private lessons throughout the year on top of my performance schedules.

When working with Chelsea, one will notice that when she is talking to you it’s like there is no one else in the room- not in an intimidating way, but in a completely giving way. She is continually giving of herself as an instrument of making art- whether acting or directing, she is present, focussed, vulnerable, and selfless with her time and emotional investment for not only the project at hand, but for the relationships she makes during the project. Chelsea is an incredible listener. As an actor, director, and teacher she respects the work and viewpoints of fellow artists so that it makes what we do a truly collaborative experience. She has an impressive resume and, as a multifaceted artist she is knowledgable and credible and therefore able to communicate affectively with anyone. She is empowering, efficient, so very intelligent, talented, and exceptionally kind (a rare combination of qualities in my opinion). I would share the stage with her or sit behind the production table with her anytime.

Chelsea is personable and present with her students & actors; she is a top notch instructor. Always patient, always confident and friendly - but never misuses her authority, or puts her group’s mental or physical wellbeing at risk. She was a mentor of mine throughout high school, and completely changed my life for the better. Chelsea is a brilliant hire. She will do good things wherever she goes.

Chelsea is one of the kindest and most gracious acting instructors I've had the pleasure of working with. She is truly passionate about her craft and brings that passion and energy to every session. Filled with knowledge and incredibly flexible, Chelsea can create and revise lesson plans to better fit the needs of the actors. 2020-03-19
